You might wonder what that ‘remembering books’ is about, so I’m just starting that blog series for me to try and remember all the books I’ve read and forgot to add.
Title : The Golden Dynasty
Author : Kristen Ashley
Rating : ★★★
Genre : Paranormal Romance
Theme : Multiverse
Circe Quinn goes to sleep at home and wakes up in a corral filled with women wearing sacrificial virgin attire – and she is one of them. She soon finds out that she’s not having a wild dream, she’s living a frightening nightmare where she’s been transported to a barren land populated by a primitive people and in short order, she’s installed very unwillingly on her white throne of horns as their Queen.
Dax Lahn is the king of Suh Tunak, The Horde of the nation of Korwahk and with one look at Circe, he knows she will be his bride and together they will start The Golden Dynasty of legend.
Circe and Lahn are separated by language, culture and the small fact she’s from a parallel universe and has no idea how she got there or how to get home. But facing challenge after challenge, Circe finds her footing as Queen of the brutal Korwahk Horde and wife to its King, then she makes friends then she finds herself falling in love with this primitive land, its people and especially their savage leader.
What Do I Think ?
It was weird. No let me rephrase , it’s burn-worthy.
So she awoke in a weird world and is then wedded to a ruler . Then she finds someone who speaks her language? Really? In an other world?
Huge spoilers but to save you all , I am spilling them . When we first wakes up in this new world, she gets raped by the
villain hero. Then he slaps her because she has been roaming around his market (No one told her she couldn’t). Then he again he tells her she manipulated him using sex (called her an whore , basically) . That is when the heroine gets a backbone and apparently transports herself back to our world . Isn’t that all wonderful?
Wanna know something, my masochist readers who love grovel? Let’s go through the dirty deed-grovel thing :
Dirty deed : Calling their unborn kids an abomination
Grovel: I behaved like a maniac for 5 months.I tried so hard to bring you back-and I have finally did it .
Chorus : Yes , he wasn’t himself the months in which you were gone.
Forgiving : *touched seeing the devotion of her husband * Omg I’m sorry for causing you so much heartache . I forgave you months ago , I was just increasing your agony and I’m ashamed of myself . Oh my king, forgive me !
Like what the heck is that? No,seriously?
Oh,there’s also this idiotic friend that Circe finds in this
stupid beautiful world. The only purpose for which she is put into this book is to say ,” This is their way. You are their queen.Don’t use your brain.Be a fucking puppet.”
If your boy slaps you and your friend tells you that’s the way he is , leave both your boyfriend and your friend. And of course , if a psycho rapes you and this friend tells you it’s the way he is,fucking call the mental asylum .
Truth: Rape is not romantic. Slavery is not fun. Domestic violence is not normal.
This book is trying to glorify all of that.
But despite all of that, I did like reading it for the heartache. Like, all the rant above is from the rational part of my brain. But the other,must-be-crazy-part,of me loved reading it.
I re-read it recently and just realised what horror was lurking in my book shelf. The three stars are for this book being intriguing. I’ve re-read it thrice already and I know I’ll be reading it again. I’m stupid like that.
The only good thing about this one is the uniqueness . I won’t be forgetting this one.
I leave the recommendation open, actually. If you like Johanna Lindsey, this will be something you’d like.
Do I have any romance readers in here? Have you read this one or any other Kristen Ashley books?
