My thoughts :
Yeah , well . One more to the pile
You all know I love weird mixtures of Genres ( like really ) , and I think it was brilliant of the author to try something out with this book too . But I’m not really sure where I stand with the story itself . I gotta warn ya that there’s a lot of ranting ahead ..
First off , Delusional is mostly a thriller and it was a fascinating one at that . This is about how a woman falls for her married colleague and then they start seeing each other (despicable , I know ! ) . But that’s not all .Soon after they start seeing each other , this woman ( who should rightly be called the ‘other woman ‘ . Gods I’m mad ) , we are reading about a story that seems to be so far from what we’ve been reading .
That’s where the ‘thriller’ part kicks in . The crimes we’ve been waiting for comes now and the FBI have no clue what’s going on . We can see ourselves getting as confused as the FBI – only the FBI don’t know this is a ‘fantasy ‘ world ! The one thing that kept me to the book was : How is the woman connected to what’s going on ?
I did enjoy reading the book , now . The only problem I had with the book was understanding the protagonist and the narrative itself . I did not feel a lot of the things that went on and it felt like I was just listening to hear someone say something to me ( which means I wasn’t ‘shown’ ) . However , this might just be me because I usually hate hearing the character thoughts when the story is not in their POV and certain other things that went on in this book ( which are pretty common ) .
I think the best part of this book is its freshness itself . I’m currently reading a bulk of books and this one stood out with all it has . The world-building itself was cool but unfortunately , this book isn’t a way to escape your real life since it brings in a lot of real life situations .
Do I rec’d this ?
This book is definitely not a ‘sure read’ ; it works for some and it just doesn’t for the others .
Tell me what you think of this one !
