Genre : Mystery
Theme : Marriage Thriller
The Summary :
Everyone knows a couple like Jack and Grace.
He has looks and wealth, she has charm and elegance. You might not want to like them, but you do. Though, you’d like to get to know Grace better
But it’s difficult, because you realise Jack and Grace are never apart.
Some might call this true love. Others might ask why Grace never answers the phone. Or how she can never meet for coffee, even though she doesn’t work. How she can cook such elaborate meals but remain so slim. And why there are bars on one of the bedroom windows.
Sometimes, the perfect marriage is the perfect lie.
What I think :
Apparently , this book was the next ‘Gone Girl ‘ . It’s just not . It’s not one of those secretive books but one of those books with drama that plays too hard with your emotions .
Well , the book was not at all secretive or suspense full . But it is packed with action and descriptions that seem to come alive as you dwell deeper into the words . It is fast-paced and un-putdownable . There is some strength in the book that I couldn’t quite point out -it’s just there and that strength was what led the story .
The book was scary ! And I do mean scarier than any horror with silly demons and I literally felt my heart pounding in my chest . That is something , right ?
The only thing off with this book is the marketing tactics . Why is it marketed as ‘the next Gone Girl ‘ ? It is not a mystical thriller , but a marriage thriller ( which you might have guessed from the summary ) . It’s NOTHING like the Gone Girl , even though it’s good on it’s own . Why did they have to make people expect so much differently than what’s on the book ?
To be honest , it’s wasn’t a great book , but I still feel like recommending it . It was a powerful read and I enjoyed the book so much ! It’s not meaningful , it’s not so much everything – but it was good .
Read the book already ? Tell me what you think !
